Ole Miss Lands Four-Star Miami CB Transfer Chris Graves
Former Miami defensive back Chris Graves has a new home, and it's Oxford, Mississippi. After narrowing his transfer possibilities to either Texas A&M or the Rebels, Graves announced on Twitter Sunday night that he has chosen Ole Miss.
The Fort Myers, Florida, native had just completed a visit to Oxford and was impressed with his visit.
“It went good,” Graves said. “I like Pete Golding. You’ve got an experienced defensive coordinator from one of the top teams in college football and he’s just said that he likes my play style and that I’ve got a chance to come in and play right away.”
The 6-0, 175-pound Bishop Verot HS (Fla.) product was given four-star status and ranked as the No. 15 corner and the No. 118 overall player for the 2022 cycle by On3. Since entering the transfer portal on July 19, he was recruited by the likes of Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Arkansas, North Carolina, Louisville, Cincinnati, Houston and Arizona before narrowing his final two destinations to either Ole Miss or Texas A&M.
“I’m a man-to-man corner, and I just need a school that’s going to fit my playing style,” Graves said.
Graves redshirted in Miami for his only season and never saw any game action. The Hurricanes went 5-7 last year in Mario Cristobal's first season leading the program.
