Commitment Preview: Texas Safety Aaron Flowers Ready to Announce
It's almost decision time for Aaron Flowers, one of numerous Oregon safety targets in the 2024 recruiting class.
The defensive back from Forney (Tex.) is set to announce his college commitment on Friday April 7 at 2:00 pm PT.
He'll choose from a loaded top 10 that includes Oregon, USC and Alabama among other programs.
Flowers is rated a four-star (0.9397) recruit by the 247Sports Composite. He's ranked the No. 133 player nationally, the No. 10 safety and the No. 24 recruit in Texas.
The six-foot, 190-pound defensive back heads into his decision after taking visits to Oregon, USC, Arkansas and Alabama in March.
New Oregon safeties coach Chris Hampton was quick to offer Hampton after joining Dan Lanning's staff back in January and is one of the lead recruiters for the Ducks here.
"It looks really great," Flowers said of his relationships with the Oregon staff. "They're heavy hitters in my recruiting process. They always get me on Facetime with Coach Hampton. Coach (Dan) Lanning Facetimes me a lot compared to other coaches. He's a really chill guy. He talks to my dad a lot too."
Alabama got the last visit for Flowers, but he also made his way out to Los Angeles on the heels of his first trip to Eugene.

Heading into this commitment I'm hearing that USC has a lot of solid momentum. That trip to Oregon and USC was his first trip out West and he really enjoyed that USC visit, which is why the Trojans are liking their chances. They might be the team to beat, as that's reflected in the 247Sports Crystal Ball--with two of his three predictions being to USC and the other to the Oklahoma Sooners.
However, Oregon is liking their chances feel like they have a solid shot going into Friday, as the decision looks like it's down to the Ducks and the Trojans. The Ducks have continued to recruit him very hard since he made that trip to Eugene and I've been told it's looking like a 50/50 battle right now.
Oregon has yet to land a commitment from a defensive back in the 2024 class and Dan Lanning's staff has really beefed up its connections in the Flowers' home state of Texas, which should only help their chances here. The Ducks also have some NFL production at Flowers' position in recent years after sending Jevon Holland to the league following a dominant college career.
Flowers told Ducks Digest that he'll be weighing a couple of different factors when he makes his decision.
"The most important factor for me is where I see myself at," he said. "I want to get early starting playing time too. And then how like much of a relationship I build with them too. How comfortable I am at home with them. Education plays a big part too with it. But it's mostly about the family connection and how strongly they like me."
He'll make his commitment at 2 pm PT on the Rivals YouTube channel.
