Elite 2024 LB Brayden Platt Working on Spring Visits
The state of Washington is loaded in the 2024 cycle, headlined by Oregon running back target Jason Brown Jr. out of Seattle (Wash.) O'Dea.
Yelm (Wash.) High School linebacker Brayden Platt is arguably the top defender and he spoke with Ducks Digest about the latest in his recruitment coming out of the dead period.
The 6-foot-2, 240-pound linebacker has landed recent offers from USC, UCLA and Notre Dame among others and has had the most contact with a select group of schools lately.
"Oregon, Louisville, USC, Oklahoma, UCLA," Platt said. "Those are the ones that are contacting me the most."
The No. 4 player in Washington (per 247Sports Composite) is still working on filling out his spring visit schedule but has a couple of schools he'd like to see.
"As of right now I don't have anything planned officially. I'm going to try to get out to USC, Oklahoma, Oregon, and UW (Washington)."
SIGNEE SPOTLIGHT: 2023 Oregon OL Gernorris Wilson
Lincoln Riley at USC is one of his recent offers and Platt views the Trojans as a player in his recruitment.
"Coach Odom's a really good coach. It's been good getting to meet him and the new staff."
The highly-coveted linebacker was in Eugene to see Oregon in January. One of his lead recruiters, Jake Long, rejoined Nick Saban's coaching staff at Alabama, but one of the Ducks' top recruiters has helped keep the Ducks in a good spot.
"Probably right now it would be Coach (Tosh) Lupoi," he said. "I haven't really got to meet the new linebacker coach yet but hopefully soon."
When the Washington standout hits the road for more recruiting trips there's going to be one factor that could carry more weight than others in his recruitment.
"The most important (thing) is seeing which coaches can help develop me to get to the NFL," Platt said.
Hey may be ranked a top linebacker in his class, but Platt dominated as a running back for Yelm en route to state championship in 2022 and spoke about impacting the game on both sides of the ball.
"I like it a lot. Sometimes you have to depend on offense and I like doing that too if I have someone I can trust, but it's always fun to take it into your own hands and do what you can do with it."
Oregon fans should continue to watch Platt's recruitment closely as he's a top linebacker target for the Ducks, along with Justin Williams out of Conroe (Tex.) Oak Ridge and Dylan Williams out of Long Beach (Calif.) Poly.
