The Latest With Top 2024 RB Jason Brown Jr.

Jason Brown Jr. was in Eugene for a visit in January and is being pursued heavily by top programs across the country.

Seattle (Wash.) O'Dea running back Jason Brown Jr. is one of the backs in the 2024 class. Ducks Digest was at the 7on7 Association Battle of the Beach Tournament over the weekend and caught up with Brown get the the latest in his recruitment.

The 5-foot-10, 200-pound running back took an Oregon visit in January and loved what he saw.

"I loved it. They pulled out the red carpet for me showing me everything I need to see as a player," Brown said about the visit. "My dad was there so he got to build a relationship with the coaching staff which is really important."

He's taken numerous trips to Eugene and has built strong connections with the coaching staff.

"I already have a really strong relationship with Coach Lock (Carlos Locklyn) and Coach (Dan) Lanning. Just being there in person just felt like a hangout more than a structured visit. Everything was amazing I liked the visit a lot."

Carlos Locklyn, along with other members of the Ducks staff visited Brown more than five times in one month, which has him feeling like a priority.

"I feel like Oregon does a great job of that just making you a priority and making you feel wanted and special," he said. "It doesn't flip when there's other people around."

Brown heads to USC on Monday and the Trojans present him with a unique opportunity to pursue his passions on and off the field.

"Definitely want to go check out the film school. I want to study film in college, check that out. And really just build a relationship with the staff. USC and LA is where a lot of my family's from. It's really good to just be out here again and enjoy California for one but then also go visit a school that's been one of those schools that's been a dream to attend for a while in my life."

Lincoln Riley dialed up one of the most effective offenses in college football last year and Brown feels like USC could prepare him for the league.

"The way that they utilize the back," he said on what sticks out about USC. "They use the back at all facets of the game. Everything that an NFL offense would like to see from the running back group."

Aside from Oregon and USC he's been in contact with schools across the country including Washington, Michigan State, Florida State, Miami and Louisville among others.

Brown doesn't have a timeline for a decision but will commit "when he feels like the time's right."

Has he started to plan official visits?

"No not yet. I just want to go on some more unofficials first. Make sure that I use those visits as real business trips. I'm gonna take my time when it comes to scheduling officials until I really find out are these the schools that I'm really really interested in."

The Seattle standout is looking for a college to check a number of boxes before he lands at his next spot.

"Big thing is flexibility in major. I want to be able to major in what I want to major in. That cliche family feel that a lot of people talk about, but it's really bigger than that. I'm looking to these other men around me as brothers. These are people that are going to mold me in my most developmental years, growing into my real adulthood and I have to make sure that I'm around the people that I can trust with my life."
