Making a Prediction on a Top 2024 Oregon Target

Ryan Pellum is down to a final two of Oregon and USC.

On Monday, 2024 Long Beach (Calif.) Millikan wide receiver Ryan Pellum announced that he was down to a final two of Oregon and USC.

He has yet to publicly set a commitment date, but we should expect him to make his decision in the near future, according to a source close to his recruitment.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound pass catcher just took his official visit to USC last weekend and will take his official visit with the Ducks this weekend. Today, I'm ready to log my pick on where he'll play his college football.

Prediction: USC Trojans

Confidence level: 7.5/10

Explaining the pick

Pellum is a recruit that's been on Oregon's radar for a long time. After all, his uncle Don Pellum coached in Eugene for nearly 30 years.

With this recruitment expected to end soon, I think USC will be tough to beat here in yet another recruiting battle between the Ducks and the Trojans.

First off, I think the opportunity to stay home and remain close to family is a big part of the appeal and a main reason why Lincoln Riley is in a good position to close. 2024 Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon wide receiver Xavier Jordan is already in the fold and USC has a made top skill talent in the Southern California area a renewed priority on the recruiting trail.

Despite heavy family ties to Oregon and a lot of buzz on the surface, I've never gotten the feel that the Ducks were the team to beat during this recruitment, especially when they started to pick up other wide receivers in this class.

When it comes time to make a decision, I think Pellum will be a Trojan.
