Oregon continues to dominate on the recruiting trail and in the transfer portal.

After landing a commitment from former East Carolina offensive lineman Nishad Strother on Monday morning, former Colorado Buffaloes cornerback Nikko Reed has committed to the Oregon Ducks. He was on campus for a visit in Eugene over the weekend.

Reed entered the transfer portal on April 15 after spending two seasons in Boulder. He measures 5'10", 185 pounds and started in 13 of his 24 games.

He wrapped up his time in Colorado with 51 total tackles, 36 solo tackles and 3 interceptions, breaking up 11 passes. One of his top highlights was a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Utah in 2021.

Reed is the second cornerback transfer to commit to Oregon this offseason and will have two years of eligibility remaining. Alabama transfer Khyree Jackson committed to the Ducks and was able to participate in spring practice.

Jackson and Reed will help the Ducks retool their secondary as they move on to life after Christian Gonzalez, a 2023 first-round NFL Draft pick who was the best defensive back in the Pac-12 last season.

With Reed in the fold, Demetrice Martin continues to shine as a recruiter at Oregon, tapping into his connections up and down the West Coast in the high school ranks as well as previous relationships in the transfer portal. Martin recruited Reed to Colorado as a three-star athlete in the 2021 recruiting class from Hayward (Calif.) Moreau Catholic High School.

The Ducks also recruited Louisiana Lafeyette transfer Trey Amos from the portal, but he committed to Alabama last week.

Oregon also signed five high school cornerbacks in the 2023 recruiting class including Martin's son Cole Martin, as well as Daylen Austin, Rodrick Pleasant, Solomon Davis and Collin Gill.
