Oregon Picks up New Recruiting Prediction to Land All-American Safety
Oregon's 2025 recruiting class ranks No. 12 nationally according to 247Sports after landing a commitment from Concord (Calif.) De La Salle EDGE Matthew Johnson last week. He's the fifth verbal commitment for Dan Lanning and the first pledge on the defensive side of the ball.
Now it looks like the Ducks are in good standing with yet another blue chip recruit. On Wednesday, 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Tom Loy logged a prediction for 2025 Pittsburg (Calif.) safety Jadyn Hudson to commit to Oregon.
Hudson is listed at 6'2", 175 pounds and is an Adidas All-American Bowl selection. He's rated a four-star (0.9555) recruit by the 247Sports Composite. The same system ranks him the No. 96 player nationally, the No. 8 safety and the No. 10 recruit in California.
He's been to Eugene multiple times, but his last trip to campus was in the Fall to take in Oregon's 42-6 win over the Colorado Buffaloes.
The direction the program is heading is one of the main things that has peaked his interest.
"I would say what Coach (Dan) Lanning, Coach (Tosh) Lupoi and Coach Hamp (Chris Hampton) are doing," Hudson said in an interview with Ducks Digest. "Especially with the defense. Oregon has been playing very well for some years too."
The Ducks have yet to secure a commitment from a defensive back in the 2025 class, but they've set their sights on some of the nation's very best including Olney (Md.) Our Lady Good Counsel standout Faheem Delane and Cleveland (Ohio) Shaker Heights star Trey McNutt, who both visited Eugene within the last month.
Torres' Take
This prediction makes a ton of sense in my eyes. Obviously Hudson has had plenty of good things to say about the Ducks, but I think you also have to look at Oregon's huge run of success recruiting top West Coast talent, particularly on defense.
This staff has almost hand-picked who they want from the Golden State, and they just picked up a commitment from a fellow East Bay product in Matthew Johnson. Defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi and wide receivers coach Junior Adams are both Bay Area natives and that should give the Ducks a big leg up in this recruitment.
Add in that safety is a major position of need for the team looking down the road to 2025 and I wouldn't be shocked to see them end up signing Hudson when all is said and done.
