PREDICTION: Oregon to Land 2024 Running Back

The Ducks could be closing in on landing their first running back this cycle.
In this story:

It seems like the entire Pac-12 has been landing commitments lately, but it's been quite on the Oregon front.

Duck fans should be excited though, because after hosting top verbal commits and targets in the 2024 class, things should be picking up sooner rather than later.

Today I'm logging a pick for Oregon to land Washington, D.C. St. John's running back Da'Jaun Riggs. He was on campus in over the weekend for his official visit.

Confidence level: 7.5/10

Explaining the Pick

Riggs has set a commitment date for July 3, and the timeline certainly favors the Ducks coming off of his official visit--the last he'll take before making a decision.

The other schools to monitor here include Pitt and Minnesota. Those staffs have done solid jobs in this recruitment but I don't think they've done a better job than Oregon.

Carlos Locklyn is an elite relationship builder and I think he's outworked the competition here. Oregon did a great job winning over not just Riggs, but his family as well--who had to travel about six hours across the country for his second trip to Eugene in 2023.

Riggs is a versatile back that can do a lot of different things, which is exactly what the Ducks want in their backfield. With Bucky Irving almost a lock to head to the NFL in 2024, Oregon will need at least one back this class--possibly two if Noah Whittington opts to do the same.

At about 6'0, 200 pounds, Riggs runs with the toughness and style that we've seen Locklyn covet during his short time in Eugene thus far and I think Oregon will land their first running back in the 2024 class next week.

The coaching staff remains in the thick of a battle against Georgia for Nate Frazier, while Jason Brown Jr., another top running back target, maintains high interest in the Ducks and is taking his recruitment slow.

I know I'm not the first to log this pick, but I'm feeling good about it after his last visit.
