The latest batch of projections from bracket expert Mike DeCoursey has Pitt as an eighth seed in the East region, where they would meet Creighton in Birmingham, Alabama. The winner of No. 1 Arizona vs No. 16 UNC Asheville would await the winner of Panthers-Blue Jays. ESPN and CBS both have Pitt as eighth seeds as well, but in different regions. 

Andy Katz, another contributor to Fox Sports' college basketball coverage, had kind words to share about the Panthers as well. He believes they have covered for the shortcomings of an unassuming non-conference resume by notching good wins during the ACC portion of their schedule. 

"The Panthers had three monster wins over the past week-plus against Wake Forest, Miami and then at North Carolina to give the Panthers a sweep of the Tar Heels," Katz wrote. "Pitt’s best nonconference win was at Northwestern, forcing the Panthers to do their work in the ACC. They have done plenty to put themselves in position to get a bid."
