PITTSBURGH -- The Boston Celtics have made their decision to sign former Pitt Panther Justin Champagnie to their active NBA roster official. Chris Forsberg of NBC Sports Boston reported this afternoon that the signing had been finalized.

This is Champagnie's second stint in the NBA since leaving Pitt after his sophomore season in 2020. He appeared in 39 games for the Toronto Raptors from 2021 to 2023. Champagnie has spent the vast majority of his professional career in the G League, where he's

Champagnie, an All-ACC selection in 2021, was the first Panther to earn all-league consideration since Ashton Gibbs in 2011. He averaged 18 points, 11 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 53.6% from 2-point range. Over two seasons with the Raptors 905 and Sioux Falls Skyforce, Champagnie averaged 19.3 points and eight boards per game while making 35% of his 3-point shots and 51% of his total field goals.

With Boston having secured the Eastern Conference's second seed, expect Champagnie to be a fixture in their final two games of the season. The Celtics have two more regular season games to play before they begin their playoff run. Regular starters figure to get plenty of rest during games against the Raptors this week and Hawks on Sunday before the postseason begins in earnest.
