PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers pummeled West Virginia in the 190th Backyard Brawl, earning an 80-63 win that they desperately needed to get their season back on track.

Pitt's victory was fueled by an incredible shooting performance from senior Blake Hinson, who notched a career-high 29 points behind a school-record nine 3-point attempts. It astounded WVU defenders and coaches, who had no answer for how they could have stopped him.

He shot the ball better than Kevin Durant does tonight,” WVU forward Quin Slazinski said. “Some of the shots he took, 3-pointers he would shoot, I had the biggest smile on my face because that’s what we want and then net. I mean, nine for 15 - people don’t even hit that when they’re wide open.”

And Salzinski was not exaggerating with that comment. Durant has attempted 15 or more 3-pointers just once in his NBA career, during an April 2014 game against the Suns, and he only made four of those triples. And Durant's never made more than eight three-pointers in a game in his long, decorated stay in the highest level of basketball.

Durant even took notice of the comment and recognized in a since-deleted Tweet that it must have been quite the performance from Hinson to earn that kind of praise.
