Bub Carrington Makes ACC All-Rookie Team
WASHINGTON, DC -- Bub Carrington was named to the ACC All-Rookie Team on Monday, making him the second player in Pitt Panthers history to earn those honors.
Carrington started all 31 games for the Panthers during the regular season while ending the year as the team's leader in assists and as its second-leading scorer. He averaged 13.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists on 40.7% shooting overall and 31.4% from three-point range over 32.9 minutes per contest.
Carrington racked up accolades throughout his freshman season. He was named ACC Rookie of the Week five times, narrowly beating out the ACC Rookie of the Year in Notre Dame's Markus Burton for the lead, while also recording the Panthers' first triple-double since 1998 in his first collegiate game. Carrington is also only one of two players in program history to record a triple-double as a freshman, joining Ricardo Greer.
Carrington was also an All-ACC honorable mention while finishing third in ACC Rookie of the Year voting behind Burton and Duke's Jared McCain.
Xavier Johnson is the only other Panther to make the ACC All-Rookie team. He did so during the 2018-19 season after recording 15.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game on 41.5% shooting.
Carrington committed to Pitt on June 15, 2022, and was rated as a four-star prospect out of St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland by all four of the major recruiting services.
