PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers' biggest loss of the offseason was outgoing forward John Hugley, who opted to enter the transfer portal following the end of the regular season.

Despite muddling through eight games in which he struggled to meet the lofty expectations that surrounded him following an All-ACC campaign in 2021-22, Hugley has drawn interest from a variety of high major programs. He's beginning to narrow his list and Oklahoma appears to be one of the major contenders to land him. Hugley has a visit to Norman scheduled for this weekend, according to On3 recruiting insider Joe Tipton.

Memphis, Nebraska, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, UCF, Penn State, Arkansas, Michigan, Oregon, Miami, Rutgers, Xavier, LSU, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Maryland, Wisconsin, Butler, Dayton, Ohio, Arizona State, Georgia, Duquesne, Oakland, Loyola Marymount and Cleveland State are some of the other schools to have contacted Hugley after he entered the transfer portal.

Hugley took a step back in his junior year after suffering a knee injury during the preseason. He averaged just eight points and 3.8 rebounds per game over just eight games this season, one year after averaging 14.8 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists on 47.1% shooting from the field. He was named an All-ACC Honorable Mention for his efforts at the end of the 2021-22 season. He sat out most of the season to rehabilitate his knee and care for his own mental health.
