Analyst Sees Pitt's Carter Warren as NFL Starter
PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers offensive tackle Carter Warren saw limited action during his rookie season with the New York Jets and one NFL analyst believes the organization should consider him a future star.
Damien Woody, an 11-year NFL veteran turned ESPN NFL commentator, said the Jets should consider Warren, who they took with the 120th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, a future starter and give him the opportunity to be one.
Woody believes Warren still has some developing to do but that he has all the necessary tools to be a starter at the highest level of football.
Warren was coming off a serious knee injury that kept him out of the vast majority of his final season at Pitt when we joined the Jets as a fourth-round pick in 2023. He appeared in eight games and started five last season, and ultimately played 75% of the offensive total snaps he was available for.
Warren has been a mainstay in the Pitt offensive line since 2019. He started 38 of his final 39 games at left tackle before a torn meniscus kept him sidelined for the final nine contests of 2022.
He was considered a prime draft candidate following his impressive 2021 campaign, but returned to school to better his draft stock. He was named a captain prior to the start of his fifth and final season in college football.
