PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers and Notre Dame knew when they would play - in Week 9 just a few days before Halloween on October 28 - and know they have a kickoff time. 

The Panthers will meet the Irish at 3:30 pm on that day at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana, it was announced this week. The game will be broadcast nationally on NBC and streamed on Peacock as well. 

This is the first kickoff time that has been announced for the Panthers' 2023 schedule.  It will be the second non-conference road game the Panthers play this season after traveling to Morgantown, West Virginia for the Backyard Brawl in Week 3. It is Pitt's first trip to Notre Dame Stadium since 2018.  

That game will be the 72nd all-time meeting between the Panthers and Fighting Irish, making it the fourth-longest running series in school history.

Stephen Thompson graduated with a bachelor's degree in communications and political science from Pitt in April 2022 after spending four years as a sports writer and editor at The Pitt News, the University of Pittsburgh's independent, student-run newspaper.  He primarily worked the Pitt men's basketball beat, and filled in on coverage of football, volleyball, softball, gymnastics and lacrosse, in addition to other sports as needed. His work at The Pitt News has won awards from the Pennsylvania News Media Association and Associated College Press.  During the spring and summer of 2021, Stephen interned for Pittsburgh Sports Now, covering baseball in western Pennsylvania.
