PITTSBURGH -- Kedon Slovis is still in the midst of a battle for the starting quarterback job with Nick Patti and the two Pitt Panthers signal-callers will duke it out over the coming months in offseason workouts in training camp. For now, Slovis is in Thibodaux, Lousiana, training in front of former professionals and seasoned scouts at the Manning Passing Academy.

Reports from the event say that Slovis has stood out during the past few days of drills. Quarterback trainer Tony Raccioppi, who still works with former Panther and current Steeler Kenny Pickett, had high praise for Slovis' performance.

On3 writer Charles Power also praised Slovis' play this weekend, claiming that he made even the most difficult throws with ease.

"Kedon Slovis was among the more steady quarterbacks on Friday night," Powers wrote. "Slovis showed a quick release and threw with timing and accuracy. He didn’t struggle with the 18-yard comeback or dig and looked natural in the passing setting. Slovis transferred to Pitt after three years as a starter at USC."

Founded by former Saints quarterback Archie Manning and staffed by his sons Eli and Payton, the Manning Passing Academy has become one of the premier places for college football's best quarterbacks to meet, train and learn. Every summer, they host a selection of the nation's top signal-callers in Lousiana and work with them on the mental and physical components of the position.

Among this year's attendees were last year's Heisman winner, Bryce Young, Heisman finalist Bryce Young and the top five returning passers by yardage in the FBS
