PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers are on a roll this weekend and have made yet another addition through the transfer portal as new offensive coordinator Kade Bell lures a second former player from his old school to the Steel City.

Desmond Reid, an explosive running back formerly of Western Carolina, announced on Twitter that he had committed to Pitt just hours after teammate C.J. Lee announced that he had done the same.

Pitt was the first Power 5 school to extend an offer to the 5'8, 175-pound tailback. Coastal Carolina and Charlotte also offered since Reid entered the portal. He visited the Chanticleers earlier this month.

Reid was tied for the highest Pro Football Focus grade of any running back in the FCS in 2023. He played in just eight games last season but still rushed for 897 yards and 13 touchdowns. Reid has accounted for 2,218 total yards and 18 touchdowns on 292 touches throughout his two seasons at Western Carolina.

He was named 2022 SoCon Freshman of the Year and has earned second-team All-SoCon honors twice.
