PITTSBURGH -- In the middle of a miserable second half against Syracuse, the Pitt Panthers made a change at quarterback.

Starter Christian Veilleux had just coughed up his second fumble of the game, which was also third turnover of the game, and with the Panthers trailing 28-13 early in the fourth quarter, Pitt turned to redshirt sophomore Nate Yarnell with just over 14 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Veilleux finished the day 13-22 for 161 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He had thrown seven interceptions to just two touchdowns over his last three games.

Yarnell's last action came very late in a blowout loss to Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. He completed a pair of passes for 75 yards and a touchdown in his limited action in that game.

Following the Notre Dame game, Narduzzi said that Veilleux would remain the starter moving forward. It remains to be seen if that will be the case again over the final two games of the regular season.
