PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have been taken down a peg after falling to Cincinnati, 27-21 at Acrisure Stadium in Week 2 and their position in bowl game projections has taken a hit.

Action Network's Brett McMurphy had the Panthers headed out west to San Diego for a date with current No. 16 Oregon State, but now, he has Pitt as a candidate for the Pinstripe Bowl, where they'd face Wisconsin. The game is scheduled for December 28 at Yankee Stadium.

The Panthers are already scheduled to play one game at Yankee Stadium this season in Week 11, when they meet Syracuse to honor the 100th anniversary of the first football game ever played at the old Yankee Stadium.

Pitt has played in one Pinstripe Bowl before, a 31-24 loss to Northwestern in 2016. Starting quarterback Nathan Peterman and star running back James Conner both sustained concussions and Justin Jackson ran for 224 yards and three touchdowns to fuel the Wildcats' victory.
