PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers continue to search for offensive line talent in the transfer portal and that has led them to a player coming from the FCS ranks.

Pearson Toomey, a graduate transfer from Furman, was barely in the transfer portal for a few hours when offers began to roll in from the highest level of college football. Pitt was one of six FBS schools to extend a scholarship offer on the same day Toomey made his announcement.

Tulane, Georgia State, South Carolina, Michigan State and Charlotte make up the rest of the interested parties as of right now.

Toomey has started 34 games over the past three seasons and was named an All-Southern Conference first-teamer by the coaches and second-teamer by the media in 2022. He was a preseason first-team All-SoCon selection in 2023 and at the conclusion of the regular season, Toomey was named a first-team All-SoCon offensive tackle.

The Panthers are set to return both starting tackles from the 2023 squad but Toomey would certainly compete for a starting job right away, if not be the favorite to win that battle over either Branson Taylor and Ryan Baer. But he is likely not done adding offers from Power 5 schools just yet.
