PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers will be heavy underdogs when they host the surging Louisville Cardinals this weekend.

The Panthers opened as eight-point underdogs to the Cardinals, according to Circa Sports. The opening point total line has been set at 47.5.

Louisville has lept up to No. 14 in the latest AP poll after demolishing then-No. 10 Notre Dame at home in front of a national television audience. They are undefeated and have achieved their highest AP poll ranking since Week 3 of the 2017 season.

Pitt, meanwhile, is riding the longest losing streak of the Pat Narduzzi era through the bye week and into Week 7. Their latest loss - a 38-21 defeat at Virginia Tech - was perhaps the most disappointing. They are still dealing with a litany of injuries along the offensive line but have reportedly made a change at quarterback they hope will kickstart a sluggish offense.

The Cardinals beat Pitt in Louisville, Kentucky last season by a final score of 24-10. Four untimely turnovers - one of which was returned for a touchdown - were the primary culprits in the Panthers' undoing.

But Pitt has won six of their last eight contests against Louisville, including six of the last eight in the series. The Panthers own a 10-9 advantage in the all-time series.

Pitt and Louisville will kickoff from Acrisure Stadium at 6:30 p.m. and The CW will carry the broadcast.
