PITTSBURGH -- When former Pitt Panthers linebacker SirVocea Dennis was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the 153rd overall pick in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, most expected him to be a developmental piece with some upside, but a long way to go.

Well, Dennis appears to be ahead of the curve as rookie minicamp gets underway in Tampa. Playing alongside his Pitt teammate and Bucs first round pick Calijah Kancey, Dennis wasted little time to make impact plays.

With the future of long-time, but aging anchors Lavonte David and Devin White in question, linebacker was an obvious need for the Buccaneers in this year's draft. They hope they've found an answer in Dennis.

It remains to be seen whether they will continue to use him at his natural position of middle linebacker or if he'll move to the outside. Dennis is slightly undersized at 6'1 and 229 pounds, but that rarely held him back at Pitt.
