INDIANAPOLIS -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have a unique opportunity to scout college players built into their practice facility in the Steel City. As neighbors of the Pitt Panthers at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on the city's South Side, they get early looks at the pro prospects who play for Pitt.

With six Panthers having been invited to the NFL Combine this year, Steelers general manager Omar Khan said the front office has done their due diligence. They even tapped starting quarterback Kenny Pickett, a former Panther himself, for some insight to his former teammates.

"I'm not gonna say we haven't picked his brain a little bit," Khan said during the first day of the NFL Combine.

The Steelers are in the market for defensive linemen, an offensive tackle, a linebacker and a wide receiver. That means Calijah Kancey, Habakkuk Baldonado, Carter Warrne SirVocea Dennis and even former Pitt wideout Jordan Addison, all of whom will work out in front of scouts, executives and coaches this week at Lucas Oil Stadium, could wind up moving just next door. Khan said he sees great things in this crop of Panthers.

“It’s a strong Pitt class," Khan said. "Love those guys being next door. There’s a handful of guys there who will be Sunday contributors.”
