PITTSBURGH -- Alabama head coach Nick Saban's retirement sent shockwaves through the college football world, ones that lead all the way back to the Pitt Panthers.

With Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer set to take over for Saban at Alabama, the Huskies have lost a commitment from four-star defensive lineman Dominic Kirks, who was considering Pitt heavily before heading west.

Kirks, a 6'5 and 250-pound edge defender, was rated as a four-star prospect by On3 and 247Sports. On3 ranked him as high as the No. 11 player in Ohio and the No. 28 defensive lineman nationally in the class of 2024.

The 6'5, 250-pound junior had already been out to Seattle to see Washington twice last spring and summer and visited Ohio State, Cincinnati, Wisconsin and West Virginia earlier in 2023 as well. Those schools will likely be involved again for the Painesville, Ohio native and Pitt is all but certain to give it another shot with Kirks as well.
