PITTSBURGH -- Jaland Lowe's career as a Pitt Panther has already begun but he continues to reign in honors from his spectacular high school career. 

Lowe became just the fourth Pitt commit ever and the first since 2012 to earn a spot on the Jordan Brand Classic Team, it was announced over the weekend. 

During his senior season with the Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos, Lowe lead the team to the Region III-5A championship game and a 35-4 overall record while averaging 26.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 3.1 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game. Lowe ended his high school career as a three-time all-district selection, two-time all-state honoree, two-time District 20 5A Most Valuable Player, two-time All-Greater Houston Player of the Year, and two-time all-region selection. He was also named winner of the 12th annual Guy V. Lewis Award as the top boys basketball player in the Greater Houston area.

Lowe is joined on the team by DJ Wagner, Rob Dillingham, Ron Holland, Mackensie Mgbako, Kwame Evans, Justin Edwards, Sean Stewart, Mookie Cook, Caleb Foster, Jared McCain, Scotty Middleton, Aaron Bradshaw, Simeon Wilcher, Omaha Biliew, Xavier Booker, Isaiah Collier, Layden Blocker, Bronny James, Cody Williams, Jackson Shelstad, Matas Buzelis, Kanaan Carlyle, TJ Power, Aden Holloway, Darrin Ames, Coen Carr, Brandon Garrison, Jakobe Walter, Chris Johnson, Zayden High and Jeremy Fears. 

Levance Fields, Steven Adams and Khem Birch are the only other Pitt commits to have ever earned Jordan Brand Classic Team distinction as well.

Stephen Thompson graduated with a bachelor's degree in communications and political science from Pitt in April 2022 after spending four years as a sports writer and editor at The Pitt News, the University of Pittsburgh's independent, student-run newspaper.  He primarily worked the Pitt men's basketball beat, and filled in on coverage of football, volleyball, softball, gymnastics and lacrosse, in addition to other sports as needed.
