PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers got some good news on the recruiting front this week when an elite defensive back released a cut to six schools.

Tehyron Nichols, a four-star corner in the class of 2024 from Cincinnati, Ohio, included Pitt alongside Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Kentucky and Cincinnati in a list of his top six schools.

He's ranked as high as the No. 7 player in Ohio, No. 24 cornerback in the class and No. 188 overall junior in the country (On3). ESPN also lists Nichols among the top 300 juniors in America, slotting him at No. 296. Both ESPN and On3 rate him as a four-star prospect, while 247Sports and Rivals consider him a three-star player.

Nichols has visited Georgia, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Ohio State, Kentucky, Michigan, and and Penn State this year. He earned his Pitt offer a little over a year ago. He also held offers from Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Louisville, Purdue, Minnesota, Virginia Tech, Duke, Rutgers, Michigan State, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Indiana, Ilinois, Boston College and Missouri.
