PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers had a busy week waiting for commitments from three different 2024 prospects who have taken visits to the Steel City during the month of June.

The second of those prospects to announce their college decision was four-star defensive back Reggie Powers out of Centerville High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Choosing from a final five of Northwestern, Michigan State, Ohio State, Cincinnati and Pitt, Powers opted to ride with the Spartans.

Powers is ranked as high as the No. 12 player in Ohio and the No. 34 safety in the class by On3, who is also the only recruiting service to rank him as a four-star. ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports all consider him a three-star prospect.

He cut a lengthy list of offers that included West Virginia, Louisville, Duke, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Iowa State, Virginia, UConn, Boston College and others down to that select five before settling on Michigan State. Notre Dame and Tennessee expressed interest but did not extend offer.

Pitt has five defensive backs already committed in three-stars Chasen Johnson, Nigel Maynard, Davion Pritchard, Allen Bryant and Tayshawn Banks committed to join them next year.
