PITTSBURGH -- For as well as the past two weeks have gone for the Pitt Panthers, who added ten total commitments to a 2024 recruiting class that has climbed into upper echelon of national recruiting rankings, they haven't been able to land every prospect they've pursued.

Gabriel Williams, a four-star linebacker who visited Pitt earlier in June, will not be joining the Panthers' class of 2024 and will instead head south to join Virginia Tech. He announced his commitment this weekend on Twitter.

Williams, rated as a four-star prospect by On3, ESPN, 247Sports and Rivals, is ranked as high as the No. 1 player in Maryland, the No. 6 linebacker in the class and No. 85 overall prospect in the country.

Williams picked the Hokies over offers from Maryland, Pitt, Nebraska, Penn State, Notre Dame, USC, Duke, Virginia, Ole Miss, Miami, UCF, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Boston College, Memphis and others.
