PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have landed five commitments this weekend, ballooning their class to 21 players strong - the largest 2024 recruiting class in the country - and the players themselves have begun to announce that they had given their verbal pledge to head coach Pat Narduzzi and company.

Nigel Maynard, a three-star cornerback from Smyrna, Tennessee who attends Stewarts Creek High School, was the first of the five Pitt commits to reveal himself. Maynard is on campus this weekend for an official visit.

He still has a visit to Michigan on his schedule for this summer, but whether or not he'll keep that visit remains to be seen. Maynard chose the Panthers over offers from the Wolverines, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, Duke, Memphis and others.

Playing in just two games during his junior season and seven during his sophomore year, Maynard has recorded 38 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble over nine games.

The 6'0 and 180-pound defensive back is ranked as high as the No. 30 player in Tennessee and No. 92 cornerback in the class of 2024.
