PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have been on some kind of recruiting tear in the month of June. This typically fruitful month has been taken to another level in 2023, with the Panthers landing 10 commitments over the first two weeks of the month while a slew of official visitors were on campus.

The Panthers had already been building a strong class but the most recent additions have made it one of the elite groups of 2024 prospects in the country and in the ACC. No one in the FBS has more players committed than their 21-player strong class and that's helped them shoot up national recruiting rankings.

Rivals has been the most bullish on the Panthers' class since it really took off in March. Now, they rank Pitt's 2024 recruiting class No. 9 overall and second in the ACC in their latest evaluations. Only No. 8 Clemson is ranked higher after Pitt leapfrogged North Carolina and Florida State.

Meanwhile, 247Sports ranks Pitt not far behind at No. 11 nationally, good for third in the ACC behind the Tigers and Seminoles, who are ranked No. 8 and No. 9, respectively.

On3 has given the Panthers some more respect after this most recent explosion of commitments, moving them up from No. 53 to No. 29 nationally and from No. 8 to No. 6 among ACC schools. North Carolina, Miami, Louisville, Florida State and Clemson are all ranked ahead of Pitt by On3's measurements.

Pitt's two most recent additions were four-star interior offensive lineman Caleb Holmes and three-star defensive back Chasen Jones. There are still four more "Pat Signals" - announcements of commitments posted on Twitter by head coach Pat Narduzzi - that have yet to be claimed.
