PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers will keep one of the best players in Western Pennsylvania at home next year and keep the Aliquippa pipeline alive and well after landing a commitment from a four-star linebacker.

Cameron Lindsey, a coveted Aliquippa native and blue-chip defender, announced this week that he had chosen the Panthers over Penn State, Cincinnati and West Virginia.

Rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals, Lindsey is also ranked as the No. 11 player in the state of Pennsylvania. 247Sports and On3 both have him well inside Pennsylvania's top-20 recruits as well. Rivals also ranked him as high as the No. 22 linebacker in the country.

Lindsey chose the Panthers over offers from the Mountaineers, Nittany Lions, Bearcats, Duke, Maryland, Syracuse, UNLV, Kent State, UMass, UConn, Marshall, Old Dominion and Liberty. Notre Dame, Kentucky and Virginia Tech had shown interest as well.

Lindsey is the 19th player and second linebacker - alongside three-star Davin Brewerton - to commit to the Panthers' class of 2024, which ranked No. 12 in Rivals' and 247Sports' national recruiting rankings prior to his announcement.
