PITTSBURGH -- Three commitments all coming within the past three days have given the Pitt Panthers a leg up in early national rankings for the class of 2024.

Rivals has elevated the Panthers' 2024 class to No. 13 in this cycle's team class rankings, ahead of schools like Tennessee, Penn State, North Carolina, Texas A&M and Texas. Just three ACC schools - Florida State, Clemson and Wake Forest - have higher-rated classes. This Pitt class was ranked as high as No. 12 in the country following the commitment of Tayshawn Banks, a three-star corner from Cincinnati, Ohio but dropped back down just one spot after unrated defensive end Zachary Crothers announced he was a Panther.

This is the second time in two days that the Panthers have made a major leap in Rivals' recruiting rankings. They made a two-spot jump last week to No. 16 when three-star offensive lineman Jiavani Cooley, an Erie, Pennsylvania native, committed and continued on their upward trajectory this week.

Pitt's 2024 class held steady in On3's rankings at No. 25, even after the addition of Banks and Crothers. They had been solidly in the top 20 of 247Sports' rankings, but have since fallen from No. 18 to No. 20 and now sit at No. 21, sandwiched in between the SEC's Auburn and Texas A&M. The Panthers rank fifth among ACC schools by On3's ratings and foruth in the conference according to 247Sports.
