South Carolina Jumps in NCAA Rankings Once Again
After jumping to 16th in last week's D1Baseball.com ranking, the Gamecocks turned in another 4-0 week and again jumped in the rankings. Deservingly, Mark Kingston's squad has been ranked 11th in the nation in this week's top 25 rankings.
Though the team started the season ranked 23rd in the country, their 20-1 record to date has earned them increasing respect with each passing week. South Carolina started this past week with an easy 5-0 win against Presbyterian College before heading into conference play with a three-game series against Georgia.
South Carolina met a hot Georgia team who had lost just two of their past nine games. Though the Bulldogs came into this past weekend's series with plenty of momentum, South Carolina completed the three-game series easily, with the Gamecocks winning by ten runs or more in two of the three games.
The 11th-ranked Gamecocks enter this week with a single game against Charlotte on Tuesday before starting a big series against the Missouri Tigers this weekend. Mizzou is 16-3 and just swept the previously No. 2 ranked Tennessee Volunteers, so South Carolina must be on their A-game to win the upcoming series against the Tigers.
