South Carolina MBB Bracketology Update: February 27th
It's officially the final time we'll be talking about bracket projections before the calendar turns to March, and it has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for the Gamecocks in the past couple of weeks. After projected at best to land on the 3-seed line just two weeks ago, South Carolina's men's basketball team suffered two brutal losses in different ways against Auburn and LSU, leading to many bracketologists drastically changing their opinions on the Gamecocks.
With a convincing road win over a bubble team in the Ole Miss Rebels this past weekend, Lamont Paris' squad is beginning to creep back up some bracket projections. Here are the latest projections from those whom we've been following since January:
NCAA Tournament Projections
CBS Sports' Jerry Palm: No. 6-seed in West Region (No. 24 Overall)
ESPN's Joe Lunardi: No. 6-seed in West Region (No. 24 Overall)
NCAA Analyst Andy Katz: No. 6-seed in West Region (No. 24 Overall)
Field Of 68 Network: No. 7-seed in West Region (No. 28 Overall)
Looking at Carolina's final four games of the season, each remaining game is a Quad 1 opportunity based on the current NET rankings. If a couple of other teams whom the Gamecocks have already played can finish the regular season strong, it could help bolster the team's résumé for the selection committee.
