Zachary Davis Puts Together Career Performance In Myles Stute's Absence
Whenever we think of a player having to step up for a team, we always think of situations where a starter goes down, and another starter gets moved from their position to fill the vacant spot, or a backup who's not used to having such a large role in the game getting a rare chance to shine. That notion, however, doesn't full carry over to basketball, a sport where have an important, experienced rotational piece like Myles Stute can put more pressure on a younger starter like Zachary Davis.
If Davis was feeling any added pressure in Oxford yesterday afternoon, he certainly didn't show it, putting up career highs in minutes (31), points (14) on 44.4 percent shooting from the floor, and rebonds (9).
While Zachary gets more run because of what he brings on the defensive end of the floor, if Lamont Paris and the South Carolina Gamecocks can get more from Davis as far as drawing fouls and contesting rebounds are concerned, it will only make the team that much more dangerous in close games.
