Gamecock Guard Zia Cooke Declares For The WNBA Draft
It's becoming clearer and clearer with each passing day that the roster for South Carolina's Women's Basketball team is going to look significantly different this next season. Since their Final Four loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes, Aliyah Boston, Brea Beal and Laeticia Amihere had all declared for the WNBA Draft.
As star-studded of a group as this is, none of them could tout having the highest scoring average this past season, as that mark belonged to Zia Cooke. Cooke bounced back from what was widely considered a junior year slump and was a large reason why the Gamecocks held an undefeated record going into the Final Four in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.
Her growth and the evolving situation with next year's roster it seems has made Cooke's decision an easy one, as she announced on her social media accounts Tuesday night that she was moving onto the WNBA and declaring for the draft.
