Former South Carolina Commit Mike Williams Commits to Florida

2024 OT Mike Williams, who was previously committed to South Carolina, has announced he has flipped his commitment to an SEC East rival, the Florida Gators.

Even for the hottest programs in the country, recruiting is a battle, and losses are bound to occur. This is the case for South Carolina, which had previously landed and lost a commitment from 2024 target Mike Williams. The offensive tackle recommitted from the Gamecocks just a few weeks ago and has now announced his college plans.

Williams announced he is committing to the University of Florida, flipping his commitment from one SEC East opponent to another. The Baltimore native is regarded as a three-star on all four recruiting databases and slots in as the 100th-ranked OT according to On3's Industry Ranking.

Interestingly, Florida was not included in William's top eight schools, which he released at the end of March. Though losing a recruit to a divisional rival will always taste bitter, the Gamecocks have a surplus of offensive line talent in the class of 2024, minimizing the impact of Williams' change of plans.
