BREAKING: Jalen Brooks Drafted By The Dallas Cowboys
There are few Gamecocks that have battled through so much personal adversity as Jalen Brooks has. In his first year at South Carolina, a pandemic held the majority of America's attention, and the NCAA compounded any potential ramifications of those times by not declaring the North Carolina native until the halfway point of the season, which never allowed him to get into the flow of the offense.
Brooks then left in the middle of the 2021 season due to personal reasons, which almost caused him to step away from the game altogether the following offseason. Jalen, however, stuck it out and carved out a huge role in the Gamecocks' offense last Fall, ranking second on the team in receptions with 33 and receiving yards with 504.
His ability to overcome adversity and be a reliable target caught the attention of America's team, the Dallas Cowboys, who drafted Brooks with the 244th overall pick in the 7th round of the NFL Draft. Brooks joins fellow Gamecocks Cam Smith, Zacch Pickens, Darius Rush, and Jovaughn Gwyn as players who've been drafted this weekend.
