Kroeger, "Juice" Wells Named Preseason All-Americans By Athlon Sports

South Carolina Football stars Kai Kroeger and Antwane "Juice" Wells both received massive honors from a college football sports publication on Monday.

South Carolina's Football team is replacing a lot of key contributors this past Fall, with players like Cam Smith, Zacch Pickens and Darius Rush all having moved onto the NFL. Shane Beamer's team, however, still possesses players that played pivotal roles for the Gamecocks in 2022, including players like Spencer Rattler, Antwane Wells Jr. and punter Kai Kroeger, the latter of whom helped power the top special teams unit in the country.

As we approach the notorious "talking season", where analysts and fans alike will begin to opine how certain programs will perform next season, preseason honors are beginning to roll out from certain publications, including Athlon Sports, who started distributing their 2023 College Football preview magazine. In Athlon's preview, they compiled four All-American teams, and named two Gamecocks to their teams, with Kai Kroeger being named a second-team All-American, while "Juice" Wells was named a fourth-team All-American. Both were also named first-team All-SEC selections by Athlon Sports.

Other Gamecocks who received preseason recognition from Athlon Sports were safety Nick Emmanwori, defensive tackle Tonka Hemingway, kicker Mitch Jeter, with Emmanwori being named a second-team All-SEC selection and Hemingway and Jeter both being named third-team All-SEC selections. Spencer Rattler, Dakereon Joyner, Trey Knox, Mohamed Kaba, Marcellas Dial and Xavier Legette were all named fourth-team All-SEC selections, with Legette being selected as a return specialist.
