Everything Mark Stoops Said About South Carolina
Opening Statement
"We have to regroup in a hurry and and get ready to go on the road and try to get win No. 7 for us here this week at South Carolina, a team that obviously has played much better the past two weeks. They've also played some very good football teams and are are more than capable of of playing well in all phases. They're always strong on special teams. You know, their offense is extremely explosive. Spencer Rattler's a guy that's been around for a long time. I feel like they're running back is playing at a very, very high level and defensively, [they] made a few changes this past week. It'll be interesting to see which direction they go. You know, schematically not totally, but definitely some mix-ups that we have to be prepared for, some changeups, and they're a very good team and we're looking to just get better, have a great week and go down there in another very tough environment and try to get a win."
On Trying To Account For Spencer Rattler's Ability To Go Off Schedule
"[He's similar to Alabama's Jalen Milroe] in that he can buy time, and he's also very good in the pocket, and it was a problem this past week. So we have to do a better job in both areas. We need to be better and rushing, more disciplined, more relentless. Secondary guys getting to the quarterback, not rushing past the quarterback, letting them have that easy pocket to step up into and then plastering and covering and being better down the field as well, because he is similar in that way. Spencer's got a very good feel for moving around the pocket."
On What Makes Xavier Legette So Good
"He's a he's a big strong guy and can really run. So, I think that's, you know, the biggest thing is size, speed, and strength, and [he] makes competitive plays and he's] been around for a while."
On What He Sees From Dowell Loggains & This Offense
"I really like Dowell. I like him as a person, [and] as a coach. I think he's very creative. They create explosive plays. I mean they're making a lot of hay on 1st and 2nd down and you know, P and 10, you know, explosives. They like to get the ball moving and when they get moving they can really go. So, you know, I think they'd do a nice job of creating explosive plays."
On A 'Rumor' That There's An Edge To His Relationship With Shane Beamer
"I have no idea where you would get that information from. I mean, I have no clue where that would come. I mean, I don't feel that way. Maybe he does. I don't know. You'd have to ask him. But I don't feel that at all. It's another game and we need it for our university, for our players, it's zero to do with me and Shane."
