We are currently in the midst of Reese's Senior Bowl practices, an excellent opportunity for dozens of college football upperclassmen to display their talent in front of several prospective NFL front-office personnel, scouts, and coaches. South Carolina has two representatives participating in the Reese's Senior Bowl: quarterback Spencer Rattler and wide receiver Xavier Legette.

Although the two put up impressive numbers in 2023 and possess several quality traits from an athleticism and position-specific standpoint, the general media space doesn't seem to be too high on either player. Six days ago, the executive director of the Reese's Senior Bowl, Jim Nagy, joined the Pro Football Focus NFL Show to talk about some of the notable prospects on the practice field this week.

The conversation around said prospects eventually came to Spencer Rattler, and Nagy feels that the former preseason Heisman favorite is being valued to a much higher degree by the people who matter (the evaluators) than general football fans have been led to believe.

"There's guys that the media seem higher on than the league and vice versa. I think right now, just based off you know, talking to guys around the league, the league right now is higher on Spencer Rattler than it seems like the media is. You don't see Spencer Rattler's name out there a lot. I know a lot of teams have starter-level grades on Spencer Rattler. Just the maturity, the maturation both on and off the field," Jim explained. "With Spencer talking to Shane Beamer and the guys that's in Columbia. I think he's going to do a really good job in the interview process just based off my interactions with him so far, and let's not forget him. This guy can really throw it too. And going back to, like, we talked about Bo Nix having to move around behind the leaky offensive line at Auburn. Spencer had to do the same thing this year at South Carolina, and I think he showed teams that there's more mobility than maybe they thought there was going into the season."

The Reese's Senior Bowl will take place on Saturday at noon on the NFL Network.
