One of the things that SEC head football coaches talk about the most is the sheer grueling aspect of playing SEC teams week after week due to the caliber of athletes that compete in the conference. Those grueling stretches, which South Carolina began last week against Georgia, tend to lead to multiple injuries being dished out, thus the reason why health is one of the most important things for a team like the Gamecocks as conference play gets underway.

Unfortunately for Shane Beamer, the injury bug hasn't been too kind to him and his team since the beginning of Fall camp, with multiple projected starters and contributors missing weeks at a time due to lingering ailments. That'll continue to a certain extent this week when the Gamecocks take on Mississippi State, as per Beamer's comments on the weekly Carolina Calls Radio show at Backstreet's Grill, Ahmarean Brown, Jatius Geer, and Tyreek Johnson practiced today, and will be "available" for this Saturday's game, but likely not at 100% capacity. With Brown likely seeing limited action on Saturday night, that'll open the door for guys like Eddie Lewis and Luke Doty to see the field a little bit more.

The staff continues to be cautious with Nick Emmanwori and David Spaulding, who are bouncing back from lingering hamstring issues. Offensive tackle Cason Henry won't be playing this week, but will hopefully be jogging starting next week.
