Spencer Rattler Named To Manning Award Watchlist

The star quarterback for South Carolina's Football team has already appeared on a bunch of preseason watchlists, and made it on another list on Tuesday.

No matter what fans' or analysts' opinions are of quarterback Spencer Rattler, the Arizona native's name still carries a lot of weight in college football. His performances late last season against two college football playoff contenders in Tennessee and Clemson gave the country a taste of what No. 7 can do when firing on all cylinders.

The anticipation of future performances like those two has given people reason to believe that Rattler could be one of the past passers in the country this fall, leading to him being listed on the Maxwell Award watchlist back in late July, an award presented annually to the college football player of the year in the eyes of the Maxwell Football Club. You can now file Spencer's name under another watchlist, as the Manning Award watchlist was released on Tuesday morning with Rattler's name being included.

The Manning Award is considered a prestigious award amongst college quarterbacks due to its namesake, as the award is named after the legendary Manning Family, a family that's produced three College Football Fall of Fame quarterbacks; Archie, Peyton, and Eli. Those three and several national media members vote every year after bowl games have concluded who they believe the best quarterback is in College Football.

Names like Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Michael Pennix Jr., and others will be thrown out there the most, but Spencer's name shouldn't be forgotten in the slightest, as South Carolina fans know good and well what the fifth-year senior can do when he's on his A-game.
