RELEASE: South Carolina In Elite Company When It Comes To Fan Attendance
South Carolina's fanbase has been renowned across multiple sports for their undying support of their Gamecocks. From selling out Williams-Brice Stadium, to the FAMs packing Colonial Life Arena, and claps ringing through Founders Park during the dog days of Summer. One of the ways in which fan loyalty and support is usually measured is through fan attendance, both absolute numbers and attendance relative to a venue's capactity.
When it comes to the SEC, we see most schools rank highly in both of those aspects, no matter what sports team is playing for these respective schools. However, a few particular schools from the conference, including South Carolina, went above and beyond this past athletic year, as the athletic department announced that South Carolina was one of only six schools to rank in the top 40 in average attendance per game across five different sports: football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, and softball.
For South Carolina, this statistic can be used as a major recruiting pitch for each one of those respective programs, as with more people in the seats, there's a higher likelihood that major television or streaming companies will pick up the game, which increases exposure for the coaches and the players.
