2025 DT Amare Adams Includes Gamecocks In Top 7
If there's one particular position group in this cycle where Shane Beamer and South Carolina's Football staff have struggled to reel in talent, it's been the defensive tackle position. While this certainly hasn't been due to a lack of effort, the Gamecocks have unfortunately seen the majority of their 2024 targets commit to their biggest SEC rival, the Georgia Bulldogs, which has suddenly made the 2025 recruiting cycle even more critical when it comes to South Carolina's interior defensive line board.
One target that South Carolina should feel very comfortable with right now in terms of their position is Amare Adams, a Palmetto state native who has already taken an astonishing NINE visits to Columbia according to On3. Based purely on what Adams has done to this point in his recruitment, the Gamecocks seem to be the early frontrunners, and that notion was confirmed in a way on Tuesday afternoon when Amare Adams released his list of Top 7 schools, which included South Carolina.
It's undoubtedly a good thing that Shane Beamer and the staff have gotten out to an early lead in this recruitment because Adams' list includes a bevy of heavy hitters on the recruiting trail like Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, and LSU, where former defensive tackles Jimmy Lindsey took the same position earlier this offseason. The Gamecocks must continue to lock down their home state on the recruiting trail and bring in more talent in the trenches, and landing Amare Adams would help them extend both of those trends this next cycle.
