Recruiting Analyst On Solomon: "This Is The Kind Of Battle South Carolina's Gotta Win"
Shane Beamer and South Carolina's Football program are currently in the middle of a recruiting dead period that lasts until July 24th, meaning that Gamecock coaches can't have in-person interactions with any prospective prospects nor host them for any on-campus visits. At the end of the month, however, things will be getting interesting in Columbia, as Beamer and Co. will be hosting a plethora of prospects for the Gamecocks' annual Summer cookout event.
Per our own, Fisher Brewer, one of the prospects that will be in attendance is 2024 4-star DB Jalewis Solomon, who will be making his college decision on August 5th. Soloman is seemingly down to South Carolina and Florida State based on his 2023 visit count, but the fact he's making one last trip to Columbia makes this recruitment all the more intriguing.
On the Friday edition of my daily podcast show, The Locked On Gamecocks Podcast, I was joined by Brian Smith, the publisher of FanNation's Miami affiliate website, AllHurricanes, who also happens to serve as the national recruiting analyst for the Locked On Podcast Network. In my conversation with Brian on Jalewis Soloman's recruitment, he laid out why there multiple layers in the pursuit of Soloman and why subsequently, South Carolina needs to land him over the Seminoles.
If Torrian Gray could secure the pledge of Jalewis Solomon, it would only add to what's already a solid defensive back class for South Carolina with 4-star cornerback Braydon Lee, 4-star safety Kelvin Hunter, and underrated 3-star David Bucey in the fold for this cycle.
