2025 athlete and New Jersey native DJ McClary narrowed his recruitment on Monday afternoon, and South Carolina's Football team remains in contention.

While Shane Beamer and South Carolina's Football staff are looking to close out the Summer portion of the 2024 recruiting cycle on a high note, the Gamecocks are already heavily in the game for multiple prospects in the 2025 recruiting class. One of those prospects is an athlete from the state of New Jersey in DJ McClary.

McClary has already earned a plethora of major Power 5 offers from schools like Ohio State, Michigan, Southern Cal', Tennessee, Penn State, Ole Miss, Oregon, and several others. The Gamecocks are a relatively new contender in DJ's recruitment, as they offered the rising junior back on May 16th and have yet to host him for a visit.

Despite all of this, McClary has maintained a keen interest in the program, to the point where he included South Carolina in his top 8 released on Monday afternoon.

Up 'til now, the team that's hosted DJ the most has been Penn State, who have seen McClary come to their campus on three different occasions. What will be interesting to monitor is the fact that DJ has yet to visit a school that is located more than 200 miles away from his current residence in Jersey City, NJ, so the Gamecocks and some other teams could have a golden opportunity to leave a good impression on McClary in the very near future.
