It's that time of year once again when upperclassman recruits are looking to lock in their commitment before their senior season of high school football gets underway, and Jalewis Solomon is no different. Should he join the Gamecocks, Solomon's athletic makeup would be another feather in the cap for Shane Beamer's already talented 2024 recruiting class.

While Soloman has yet to make his college decision, he now has a commitment date in mind, as the four-star athlete from Schley County told On3 National Recruiting Director Chad Simmons that he plans to make his decision on August 8th. Jalewis also told Simmons that he intends to visit Columbia on July 28th, which falls on the weekend of South Carolina's annual Summer cookout, attended by many of the Gamecocks' top targets from the current and upcoming recruiting classes. This will allow South Carolina's coaching staff one more chance to make their pitch to Soloman right before the August recruiting dead period, which won't allow for any in-person contact or visits to take place.

While Solomon released a Top 5 on June 26th, most people who have followed this recruitment believe that Jalewis is down to two schools: South Carolina and Florida State. His recent visit log backs up this notion, as the Gamecocks and the Seminoles have hosted the Georgia native more times in 2023 than all of his remaining contenders in his recruitment.
