2025 Four-Star Edge Bryce Davis Includes Gamecocks In Top 12

South Carolina's Football program is in the hunt for several 2025 edge rushers, and that remains the case with North Carolina native Bryce Davis.

We've talked ad nauseam in recent weeks about how much of a priority the edge position continues to be for Shane Beamer and South Carolina on the recruiting trail. With only one edge defender on the roster possessing more than three years of eligibility, and only one edge rusher committed for this current cycle in Five-star Dylan Stewart, it's imperative that the Gamecocks carry over their recent success at recruiting this position to the 2025 cycle.

South Carolina remains in the game for prospects such as Zahir Mathis, CJ May, and Sharlandiin Strange. However, none of these prospects are relatively close to Columbia, SC with the exception of May, whose current residence in Highland Home, AL places him 337 miles away from South Carolina's campus. There is one target that is in close proximity to South Carolina, and that prospect is North Carolina's Bryce Davis, who visited the Gamecocks once in a camp setting back in June.

On Wednesday, Davis released his Top 12 schools, a group that included South Carolina.

The competition in Davis' recruitment is stiff, with programs like Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Tennessee also being in the mix. Shockingly, the team that seems to be in the lead right now is the Duke Blue Devils, as they've hosted Bryce for a whopping four visits to this point, leading the rest of the pack in that respective category. Duke might not be known as a recruiting powerhouse, but they do have homefield advantage, and a program that seems to be on the rise under their relatively new head coach Mike Elko, so the Blue Devils should be fully discounted in the race for Davis' pledge.
