LOOK: KingJoseph Edwards Publicly States That Gamecocks Are In Top Three
South Carolina's Football program is currently in the midst of a significant Summer recruiting stretch. Since the start of June, Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks coaching staff have hosted many visitors on campus, and they are currently working towards securing the commitments of some of those targets.
One name that hasn't been brought up in South Carolina recruiting circles nearly as much in the last three months has been 2024 edge rusher KingJoseph Edwards, who made three trips to Columbia between last October and this past April. However, since the Garnet and Black Spring game, public knowledge about where the Gamecocks stand in the Georgia native's recruitment had been sparse until Wednesday morning.
Interacting with a fan on Twitter this week, Edwards was asked in a somewhat sarcastic manner by a Gamecock fan whether he was going to be a part of South Carolina's class, which turned into a short series of tweets that led to KingJoseph letting on that Carolina was currently in his top three.
It's certainly not every day that you see a football prospect with the notoriety that KingJoseph Edwards possesses to interact with fans of respective schools, much less let the fans in on where certain schools stand in his recruitment. Nonetheless, it appears that edge coach Sterling Lucas and the Gamecocks staff hasn't let up in Edwards' recruitment, and alongside fellow edge target Dylan Stewart, could make for an exciting couple of weeks leading into football season.
